Our Local Friends
Our book world
Paper Bark Birch is proud to be part of a community filled with independent businesses, booksellers, and organizations doing meaningful work. Some of the friends below have partnered with us for events, some are organizations we’ve supported, and others helped bring Find Waldo Local to life. We hope you’ll take a moment to discover and support them, too!

Independent bookstores may be independent, but thank goodness we don’t have to do this alone. These are some of the people and organizations that help us keep the doors open, find the right books, and feel a little less like we’re making it all up as we go!
American Booksellers Association (ABA): The ABA advocates for independent bookstores across the country and gives us an enormous toolbox of resources for all the things no one tells you about running a bookstore!
Mountains & Plains Independent Booksellers Association (MPIBA): A lot like the ABA, but more focused on what is happening in our (big) slice of the country: Arizona, Colorado, Idaho, Kansas, Montana, Nebraska, Nevada, New Mexico, North Dakota, Oklahoma, South Dakota, Texas 💖, Utah, and Wyoming
Book Industry Charitable Foundation (Binc): When life goes completely sideways for a bookseller, Binc steps in with real help. They take care of the people who spend their lives putting books into everyone else’s hands. They’re the kind of organization that makes being a small business owner a little less stressful, knowing there is a lifeline if it’s ever needed.
Bookshop.org: We all kind of know Jeffrey doesn’t need your book order to send him to space again. Bookshop.org gives you the convenience of online shopping and doorstep delivery while still letting you consciously support your local independent bookstores.
Libro.fm: Same audiobooks, same easy listening, considerably fewer superyachts. When you choose Libro.fm, your audiobook purchases go directly back to your own community.
Shelf Awareness: Book news, reviews, industry tea, and an endless supply of book recs we suddenly absolutely must order. Readers can subscribe, too! It’s a free way to stay in the loop in all things bookish.
Lone Star Literary Life: Texas books, Texas authors, Texas events, and Texas book people. Need I say more?
