Say Hello to Pippin!!
The world is going a little politics-crazy right now, with early voting for elections in full swing. While I majored in Political Science, I really prefer not to spend all my time focusing on current events when there’s a lovely bookstore with thousands of stories calling my name. So I did my job… I voted… do yours, and then come do something infinitely more pleasurable… meet our new bookstore cat!
Pippin is a handsome little buff tabby we adopted from the Austin Humane Society. Little-known fact: I actually started volunteering at AHS as a middle school student and worked there for a couple of years after college. So when it came time to bring in a new bookstore manager, I knew that AHS would clearly be able to recommend the right candidate.
He spent his first week hiding under chairs by day and bravely exploring by night. Then, on his one-week gotcha-day anniversary, our friend Archie came by with his mom. Archie is a cat dude. He’s really good at it. He wiggled his way through bins of books to find Pippin hiding and spent time feeding and petting him. He did such a good job that Pippin decided being a bookstore cat was exactly his kind of gig. Since Archie came by, Pippin has taken up a central lounging spot, checking out everyone who comes in and greeting all the kids.
He’s got a cat tower in the Collaboration Room, toys on the floor, and he’s decided his favorite morning spot is staring out the front door until we arrive.
Now tell me that that isn’t way better than politics. Go vote. Then come refill your cup with a book and a bookstore cat.
